    Position Summary

    The downtown office of BDO Canada LLP is looking for a Tax Technician who will be responsible for providing tax support to our internal and external clients. The incumbent must be able to work within an environment requiring discretion and respect of the confidential information, and be flexible and adaptable to the multiple requirements of the role. The candidate must also be capable of working independently and within a team environment. 

     

     

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

     

    • Assist Staff Accountants and Tax Managers within the Tax Group
    • Conduct and document related tax research
    • Communicate with the CRA and Revenu Quebec to obtain information, complete follow-ups, validate information or answer their requests for information
    • Answer client requests and provide support to complete various forms or meet formalities, as requested by the CRA or Revenu Quebec
    • Prepare personal and corporate tax returns
    • Prepare trust and estate tax returns
    • Effective communicating internally on various tax matters
    • Work cooperatively and effectively with other staff members

     

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:

     

    • Successful completion of an Associate degree in accounting
    • A minimum of 1-year of experience within an accounting or tax role is an asset
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills in both French and English
    • Knowledge and experience with preparing tax returns
    • Previous exposure to trust and estate tax returns
    • Proficient with MS Office Experience in Caseware and TaxPrep is an asset
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Solid oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
    • Ability to work overtime from time to time
