    Interested in working in our Advisory Services Practice?

    BDO’s advisory professionals work with clients to address variety of business issues and opportunies, ranging from profitability pressures, changing regulations and volatile economies to mergers and acquisitions and technology solutions. As a student with our Valuations business line, you will work closely with our team at our Waterloo location. Our Valuations team provides valuations services for tax planning, financial reporting, litigation support and transaction advisory purposes. As a student on the valuations team, you will have the opportunity to: 

    • Value business interests for the purpose of tax planning and/or transaction advisory 
    • Value complex financial instruments and intangible assets for financial reporting purposes 
    • Assist BDO's audit and assurance team on asset impairment testing 
    • Quantify damages arising from shareholder disputes and breaches of contract 
    • Analyze company and industry-specific strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to determine the cash flow risks of the companies involved 
    • Build financial models to value business interests, intangible assets and complex financial instruments 

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

    • Enrolled in an accounting focused post-secondary program with intention of pursuing the CPA designation 
    • Strong interest in pursuing a career in valuations and an eagerness to pursue the CBV designation 
    • A desire to provide outstanding client servie and a commitment to teamwork 
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas effectively in writing 
    • Stong analytical and problem solving skills 
    • Ability to prioritize competing priorities with varying deadlines
