    Job Description

    Duration: Commencing January 2019. 8 month student preferred

    BDO’s advisory professionals work with clients to address a variety of business issues and opportunities, ranging from profitability pressures, changing regulations and volatile economies to mergers and acquisitions and technology solutions. As a student with our Forensic Accounting business line, you will work closely with our team in our Calgary location. Our Forensic Accounting team provide investigative and forensic accounting services across a wide range of industries that include corporate investigations, fraud prevention, qualitative due diligence investigations and litigation support. As a student in the Forensic Accounting team, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Analyze financial data for the purposes of quantifying damages in an insurance and litigation context
    • Analyze bank and internal accounting data for the purpose of fraud investigations
    • Prepare correspondence to clients reporting our findings
    • Correspond with insurance adjusters, risk managers, internal accounting staff and lawyers to discuss file issues and findings

     

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

    • Enrolled in an accounting focused post-secondary program with intention of pursuing the CPA designation
    • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Investigative & Forensic Accounting or another accounting or finance service line
    • A desire to provide outstanding client service and a commitment to teamwork
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas effectively in writing
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Proven project management skills
    • Ability to prioritize competing priorities with varying deadlines
